A few weeks ago, we reported on the departure of Rebecca from Waters China. At that time, her successor was not disclosed due to timing and corporate compliance reasons.
Another Greater China General Manager Resigns
Recently, the person selected has been announced, namely Li Qing, currently the Global Senior Vice President and General Manager of Greater China at Illumina.

Li Qing graduated from East China Normal University, entered the medical industry in 1993 to join Novartis as a pharmaceutical representative, joined Solvay Pharmaceuticals in 1997, and then joined Baxter in 2000 as a regional manager. Four years later, he was promoted to head of China's drug infusion business. Subsequently, he transitioned to Global, serving as the Global Nutrition Marketing Director and Country Manager for Malaysia and Indonesia.
This global rotation experience greatly helped broaden his global vision, which led to him being scouted by GE. In 2011, he was appointed as the General Manager of the Greater China Medical Diagnostics Division, and three years later, he became the General Manager of GE's Life Sciences Division in Greater China, successfully transitioning from pharmaceuticals and consumables to the life sciences field.
On April 1, 2019, after nearly 8 years at GE, Li Qing officially joined Illumina. Since the beginning of this year, Illumina has been embroiled in internal power struggles globally, with multiple adjustments and changes to its board of directors and CEO. Meanwhile, Illumina's business faces significant challenges, particularly in the Chinese market.
According to media data, in 2022, the sales share of newly added sequencers in China was overtaken by BGI. The change in leadership in the China region is, therefore, reasonable.
Li Qing will officially join Waters on October 16. Meanwhile, it is reported that Li Qing's successor at Illumina is about to be confirmed.
