On September 25, Xinhua News Agency, in collaboration with the China Enterprise Reform and Development Society, hosted the 2023 Corporate ESG Development Forum. Themed “Exploring ESG Innovation to Drive High-Quality Development,” the forum promoted the in-depth implementation of ESG principles by corporations and encouraged better fulfillment of social responsibilities. Medtronic was successfully selected for the "2023 Outstanding Corporate ESG Leadership Case" and participated in thematic discussions and case-sharing sessions with multiple domestic and international enterprises attending the forum.

In its "2022 Fiscal Year Integrated Performance Report," Medtronic showcased the latest progress in fulfilling its global corporate citizenship responsibilities through environmental management, commitment to public welfare, fostering an inclusive culture, and upholding corporate ethics. Compared to the 2020 fiscal year, Medtronic reduced its operational greenhouse gas emission intensity by 35% in the 2022 fiscal year. Globally, Medtronic's total charitable contributions in 2022 exceeded $97 million, funding efforts to address healthcare and educational disparities while actively inviting ecosystem partners to engage in social causes to promote positive societal development. Additionally, Medtronic has integrated diversity and equity principles throughout the company. In Greater China, women currently make up 50% of management, surpassing the global average of 42%. The company regularly provides platforms for employees across all age groups and for women’s professional skill development, helping employees and women overcome workplace barriers and enhance their career development skills.

From a global to the Greater China level, Medtronic actively exerts its industry leadership while focusing on patient health and well-being by launching ESG projects tailored to the healthcare sector. In the Greater China region, Medtronic has established the "Medtronic Volunteers Association," which operates around four major themes: illuminating medical wisdom, expanding access to healthcare, empowering patients' futures, and upholding humanitarianism. Numerous distinctive projects have been carried out, such as the "Angel Loves Science" series of youth medical enlightenment courses and the "Saving Lives at the Starting Line" cardiac first aid awareness program, inspiring more forces to engage in volunteer initiatives under “Blossom with Medtronic Vitality.”

In the new stage of development, Medtronic will continue to uphold the ESG concept, leverage its expertise in the medical and healthcare field, and comprehensively promote the high-quality development of ESG strategies in China's healthcare industry.
