On the 20th, the Natural Cycles application received FDA 510(k) clearance to utilize wrist temperature data from the Apple Watch. This integration will be classified as a Class II device and will have access to wrist temperature data from the Apple Watch.Apple Watch Uses TwoA sensor evaluates the user's wrist temperature, and these two sensors can be used forTracking Ovulation and MenstruationClassic.
The Natural Cycles app was first approved as a contraceptive device through the FDA's premarket review pathway in 2018. In 2021, it was approved for use with Oura Ring data integrated with third-party wearable devices in the United States, Europe, and Australia. The app tracks daily hormone-driven temperature changes to assess the user’s fertility. In addition to wrist temperature data from the Apple Watch, users can also manually input body temperature to evaluate fertility.

On the 19th,GE HealthCareHas received over $44M in grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to design AI applications and tools that assist less experienced health professionals in low- and middle-income countries with ultrasound scans, addressing fetal and maternal health as well as respiratory diseases.
Acquired by GE HealthCare earlier this yearCaption Health, founded in 2013, produces AI-supported ultrasound guidance software and will lead the development of this technology. These funds will help Caption Health create AI-driven ultrasound algorithms that can operate on multiple ultrasound devices and probes. These tools will provide clinical decision support to help providers read obstetric and pulmonary screening scans more efficiently, improving pediatric pulmonary health as well as maternal and infant care.

On the 19th,Aiosyn, a medical software company, has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) kidney toolkit for renal disease research. The new platform leverages advanced deep learning technology, enabling biopharmaceutical and research institutions to analyze kidney structures and quantify lesions that impact kidney health. Using AI-driven computational pathology algorithms, the new toolkit will objectively quantify kidney lesion scores to enhance reproducibility and accelerate drug development. It aids in identifying and characterizing pathological processes, offering a better approach for significant advancements in chronic kidney disease (CKD) research and clinical trials. The platform helps overcome the limitations of the Banff classification, currently used for renal biopsy analysis, which is affected by observer variability and relies on qualitative assessments. Additionally, the company focuses on developing advanced deep learning algorithms to identify cancer biomarkers.
