On September 27, Ginkgo Bioworks announced a collaboration with Pfizer focused on discoveringRNACandidate drug.According to the agreement, Pfizer will leverage Ginkgo's proprietary RNA technology to advance the discovery and development of new RNA molecules in priority research areas. Ginkgo will receive an upfront payment and is eligible for research fees, development and commercial milestone payments.The total amount of the three projects is as high as 331 million US dollars.Ginkgo has the right to obtain potential further downstream value in the form of sales royalties.
Ginkgo Bioworks is a synthetic biology company,In 2014, Ginkgo successfully incubated from Y Combinator in Silicon Valley and secured venture capital. In 2021, Ginkgo went public successfully through a SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Company).At the time of its listing, its market value once exceeded 26 billion US dollars, and its current market value is 3.8 billion US dollars.
In August this year, Merck collaborated with Ginkgo Bioworks, the cell programming and biosecurity platform, for a total price of up to $490 million, aiming to improve its product pipeline through biomanufacturing enhancements, increasing production efficiency and output.
