Eli Lilly Initiates New Phase III Clinical Trial of Oral GLP-1R Agonist Orforglipron in China

On October 10, according to the Insight database,Eli Lilly(LLY.US) Eli Lilly's Oral GLP-1R Agonist Orforglipron Initiates New Phase III Clinical Trial ACHIEVE-1 in China for Type 2 Diabetes (Registration Number: CTR20233100). The study was registered and initiated on ClinicalTrials.gov this July, with the current launch being the China segment.

Eli Lilly's Orforglipron (LY3502970) is the world's first oral small-molecule GLP-1RA to initiate Phase III clinical trials. At the 2023 ADA Annual Meeting, LY3502970 released its Phase II clinical data for the first time, including clinical results for type 2 diabetes and clinical results for obesity.

In addition to ACHIEVE-1, Orforglipron has initiated two Phase III clinical trials in China: ATTAIN-1 and ATTAIN-2. The ATTAIN-1 trial (registration number: CTR20232459) is the first Phase III clinical trial of Orforglipron launched in China, targeting obesity or overweight with weight-related complications. The ATTAIN-2 trial (registration number: CTR20232573), which was just initiated on the 6th of this month, focuses on overweight patients with type 2 diabetes.
