Intelligent Finance APP learned that British pharmaceutical manufacturer AstraZeneca (AZN.US) announced on Monday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted and granted priority review for the company’s key cancer drug Tagrisso in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of a type of lung cancer.
AstraZeneca stated that it will be used to treat adults with a type of advanced cancer, and added that the regulator's decision was based on a late-stage trial, which extended the median progression-free survival (PFS, the time during which the patient’s condition does not worsen after treatment) by nearly 9 months.
It is reported that the sales of Tagrisso in the first half of 2023 reached $2.92 billion, and it has been approved as a monotherapy in more than 100 countries, including the United States, the European Union, China, and Japan.
