"Joining Hands, Protecting the Whole Process—Action to Improve Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment of Stroke—Tianjin Station," hosted by the Chinese Stroke Association and supported by Qilu Pharmaceutical, was grandly held in Tianjin on the morning of October 14. This academic conference brought together more than 60 experts in the field of neurology from 11 hospitals across Tianjin, including Huanhu Hospital of Tianjin, General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, and Tianjin Armed Police Corps Medical Center, to jointly discuss topics related to improving standardized diagnosis and treatment capabilities for stroke.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor He Shida, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Stroke Association, and Zhou, the conference chair.Professor Yu Ying delivered a speech, calling on experts in the field to jointly focus on the whole-process standardized diagnosis and treatment of stroke, and actively promote the concept and clinical practice of whole-process stroke diagnosis and treatment.The conference then officially kicked off.

The academic conference is divided into two main parts, namely "Mission Inheritance" and "Future Orientation".

The first part was hosted by Professor Li Ping from the Special Medical Center of the Armed Police in Tianjin. This section invited Professor Tian Xiaobing from the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, Professor Zhu Ju from the Third Central Hospital of Tianjin, and Professor Wang Pan from Tianjin Huanhu Hospital to deliver lectures respectively. The content covered multiple topics including the current status and prospects of stroke’s full-process management, neuroprotection strategies in the reperfusion era, and stroke recovery phase management, attracting numerous experts to actively participate in discussions.

During the discussion and exchange session, experts Professor Cui Lukun, Professor Wang Ruixian, Professor Wang Lijun, Professor Zhang Meiyun, Professor Zhao Peng, and Professor Zhao Wen successively gave speeches on the topic. They expressed that a standardized clinical guideline is needed to guide the treatment from the acute phase of stroke to the rehabilitation phase, in order to change the current fragmented situation of stroke treatment and rehabilitation. Current guidelines and consensus both domestically and internationally emphasize the importance of focusing on post-stroke cognitive impairment, intervening early through lifestyle management and medication, and comprehensively managing to minimize post-stroke sequelae as much as possible. The experts particularly mentioned the positive clinical feedback of Memantine Oral Soluble Film for dementia patients with swallowing dysfunction, as well as the importance of GM1 application during the acute phase of stroke.

The second part of the meeting was chaired by Professor Zou Ming from Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. Professor Zhang Miao from Tianjin Huanhu Hospital presented a case study of a classic patient with stroke-like episodes of mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis/dystonia. The case was thoroughly analyzed from clinical manifestations, test analyses to pathological mechanisms, sparking lively learning and discussion among the experts present. Discussion experts, Professor Chen Lei and Professor Gong Zhongying, gave presentations on the characteristics of this case regarding brain cell function damage during the acute phase of mitochondrial encephalomyopathy and the differential diagnosis between NIID and mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, demonstrating the profound clinical expertise of neurology specialists in Tianjin.

The last presentation of the conference was delivered by Professor Zhang Jinnan from Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, sharing experiences on the construction of the hospital's Advanced Stroke Center. Discussion experts Professor Li Chen and Professor Zhao Lianhua also spoke about their insights and experiences regarding stroke center construction in their respective institutions. They offered perspectives from multiple angles, including top-down collaboration, integrating multi-departmental simultaneous response, and establishing a 24-hour neurointervention green channel. This session provided a valuable opportunity for experience exchange among the experts present and promoted the enhancement of standardized stroke diagnosis and treatment capabilities.

At the end of the conference, Professor Zhou Yuying, the chair of the meeting, concluded: The content of the conference focused on "entire process" and "standardization," emphasizing the importance of secondary prevention management for stroke patients. Improving motor symptoms, mental health, and social adaptability in stroke patients are all critical tasks that we medical professionals urgently need to manage and enhance. Meanwhile, Professor Zhou also expressed gratitude to the Chinese Stroke Association for its outstanding contributions to promoting and establishing standardized diagnosis and treatment of stroke in China since 2015.

The successful conclusion of this conference has laid a solid foundation for further promoting the improvement of standardized diagnosis and treatment capabilities for stroke in Tianjin City. It is also hoped that through various academic exchange activities in the future, the establishment of standardized diagnosis and treatment processes will be promoted, the quality and effectiveness of overall stroke treatment will be improved, and more comprehensive, efficient, and precise treatment services will be provided to patients.
