On October 31 local time, GSK and Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals announced that they had reached an agreement with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, to transfer the global exclusive rights for further development and commercialization of JNJ-3989 to GSK. JNJ-3989 was originally licensed by Janssen from Arrowhead in 2018. Upon completion of the transaction, GSK will be responsible for paying Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Arrowhead a total of approximately $1 billion in upfront and potential payments. JNJ-3989 is an investigational siRNA therapeutic drug for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B.
