Horimed

OCT Imaging Equipment R&D and Manufacturer

Recently, Haitang Tuanbo Fund completed the D-round investment in Horimed Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as: Horimed).

Horimed, established in 2016, focuses on the independent research, production, and sales of Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) equipment and catheters, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) equipment and catheters, dual-catheter systems integrated with IVUS/OCT, Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) platforms based on IVUS and OCT, single-source dual-modality OCT-NIRS technology that integrates OCT with Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS), and intravascular laser plaque ablation technology. The company has mastered optical, ultrasound, and catheter platform technologies and is committed to providing an integrated pan-vascular solution based on imaging products for medical professionals and patients.

Zhao Shiyong, Co-founder and General Manager of Horimed, is a Master's graduate from Tianjin University and a Ph.D. from Beijing Institute of Technology. He successively worked under Academician Yao Jianquan and Academician Gu Ying in the field of biomedical photonics research.

Dr. Zhaoshi Yong has many years of experience in medical product research and development, commercial operations, and enterprise management. He has served as the R&D Department Manager and Project Leader of the listed company Lepu Medical. He is especially skilled in the development of interventional imaging equipment and catheters. He has publicly stated that as a part of the precision diagnosis and treatment field for vascular intervention, Horimed will not only focus on technology and products in the future but also concentrate on assisting clinicians in conducting systematic training for precision diagnosis and treatment in vascular intervention. He hopes to grow together with the vast number of vascular intervention doctors, enabling more doctors to understand, master, and be committed to promoting precision diagnosis and treatment in vascular intervention, gradually aligning China with international standards in this field, and ultimately benefiting more patients.

Wang Renda, Initiating Partner and Investment Director of Beiyang Haitang Fund, stated that the development of intravascular imaging has greatly promoted the popularization of precise PCI procedures. Among these, IVUS and OCT can significantly improve the accuracy of PCI procedures, offering substantial benefits for patient prognosis and reducing the incidence of postoperative adverse events, which has become a consensus among industry experts. Currently, the penetration rates of IVUS and OCT in China lag significantly behind those in Europe and the U.S., but the future trend toward accelerated adoption is clear. IVUS and OCT equipment and catheters are typical cross-disciplinary technologies integrating acoustics, optics, electronics, and imaging, making talent cultivation difficult and the entry threshold high. Horimed boasts a top-tier biomedical engineering team in China, with years of R&D and industrialization experience, positioning it as a leading company in IVUS and OCT in China. Its products have already been introduced in several Class A tertiary hospitals, and the company plans to further intensify its promotion efforts to benefit more patients. Haitang Fund continues to focus on and promote the innovation and entrepreneurship of Tianjin University alumni, and will consistently support Horimed’s development and contribute to the advancement of precision vascular intervention.
