Global Medical Innovations Take Center Stage at the 6th China International Import Expo

Leading global medical technology companies have brought a batch of innovative products for either global debut or their first unveiling in China.

GE Healthcare, participating in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for the sixth consecutive year, made its debut this year as an independent brand with a record exhibition area of 600 square meters and the largest number of exhibits ever. It showcased nearly 30 boundary-less innovative achievements that integrate global resources and Chinese wisdom, including 10 products unveiled for the first time in China, supporting the high-quality development of China's healthcare industry.

In terms of precision diagnosis and treatment, GE Healthcare has brought a representative medical device of multimodal imaging this time — the Spectral Digital SIGNATM PET/MR. Equipped with the "Spectral Diagnosis and Treatment System" jointly developed with Stanford University, the University of Wisconsin, and other global institutions and installed users, it can achieve full-isotope precise quantification and full-sequence rapid imaging, obtaining more comprehensive lesion information in a shorter time, providing new solutions for tumor-targeted therapy and immunotherapy; the all-new Apex Quantum Platform, integrated by the Chinese team with global resources, features a 0.23s/rotation tube speed and 19.5ms temporal resolution, bringing CT scanning speed to a new level, capable of completing precise imaging covering every detail of the entire heart within one heartbeat.

Medical technology company Stryker is attending the CIIE for the third consecutive year. Under the theme of "Envisioning a Healthy Future with Intelligence," the company will showcase more than 30 innovative products and solutions, including three global innovations planned for introduction to the Chinese market within the next 1-2 years.

Among them, InSpace, the world's first biodegradable shoulder balloon to receive FDA approval, can be quickly implanted under the acromion through minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, promoting early recovery of shoulder function and pain relief for patients post-operation. The new generation Sonopet iQ ultrasonic surgical aspiration system combines three functions: soft tissue aspiration, bone tissue grinding, and cutting, with significant optimization in speed and performance. The Bone Vac autologous bone debris collection device is used to collect bone particles generated at the surgical site during bone removal procedures; the collected bone material can be utilized as an autograft, helping clinicians maximize the regenerative advantages of autologous bone.

In addition, several innovative products and solutions from Stryker will make their debut at the CIIE. Among them, the newly upgraded Endoscopic TS88 4K Defogging Endoscopy System will introduce the world's first one-touch optical defogging technology, enabling clinicians to quickly and conveniently defog endoscopes, effectively improving surgical efficiency. The Mako Smart Robotic-Arm for joint surgery, customized for China and integrated with a 5G remote multi-center solution for hip and knee replacement surgeries, can simultaneously deliver the same millimeter-level precision of the Mako surgical robot across multiple regions in China with uneven economic and medical development. This promotes the accessibility of high-quality surgical robot resources, benefiting doctors and patients in broader areas of China, including remote regions.

Medtronic, a global medical technology enterprise that has debuted new products at the China International Import Expo for six consecutive years, this time presents its globally first-launched product, PulseSelectTM Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA). It is the first cardiac pulsed field ablation product approved by the U.S. FDA for clinical trials and also the first PFA system to pass through China’s NMPA Green Channel. The product can be used to treat paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and persistent atrial fibrillation. Currently, it has entered the special approval channel for innovative medical devices of the National Medical Products Administration. The central support design of the PulseSelect system allows the catheter to locate pulmonary veins more quickly, reducing catheter operation time and improving treatment efficiency. Its 20° forward-tilted circular design enables the catheter to better adhere to the pulmonary veins, minimizing gaps during ablation and increasing the success rate of pulmonary vein isolation, thereby enhancing the long-term effectiveness of atrial fibrillation treatment. The system features nine fixed-spacing gold electrodes, providing more stable and safer energy transmission, avoiding arcing caused by electrode contact in complex shapes, reducing the risk of intraoperative complications, while also lowering operational difficulty and procedure time, further improving treatment efficiency.

Teva, a global leading biopharmaceutical company, is attending the China International Import Expo (CIIE) again this year after its debut last year. The company will highlight two products making their "first appearance in China": the innovative migraine drug Reslizumab and the consumer healthcare product Sudocrem.

Among them, the innovative migraine drug Remanezumab can be used for preventive treatment of migraines in adult patients who experience migraines for at least 4 days per month. It is expected to help improve the quality of life for hundreds of millions of migraine patients in China. Thanks to the "Hong Kong-Macao Drug and Medical Device Interim Scheme," Remanezumab has been authorized by the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration for use in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Sudocrem, a classic diaper rash cream from Ireland, is the first consumer health product introduced to China by Teva. It is suitable for treating various skin problems and is also a staple product for skin management in households worldwide.
