Teva and China Resources Guangdong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Enhance Access to Innovative Drugs for the Greater Bay Area Population

On September 29, 2020, eight departments including the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Medical Products Administration, and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the "Work Plan for Innovation and Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Regulation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" (referred to as the "Hong Kong-Macao Medicine and Device Link" policy). This policy allows designated medical institutions operating within the nine mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to use urgently needed medicines that have already been marketed in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as urgently needed medical devices that have been procured by public hospitals in Hong Kong and Macao and possess clinical application advancement.

Under the promotion of the "Hong Kong-Macao Medicine and Medical Device Access" policy, in July 2023, Teva's innovative drug – Fremanezumab, for the preventive treatment of migraine – received urgent approval for Hong Kong-Macao medical devices in the mainland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration. China Resources Guangdong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is responsible for the import procurement and distribution. On July 8, the first patient was administered Fremanezumab at Guangzhou United Family Hospital, one of the first pilot medical institutions. This means that patients seeking treatment at designated medical institutions in the mainland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are now able to use this innovative drug, which has not yet been approved for marketing in China, with the potential to significantly improve their quality of life. Based on this significant cooperative breakthrough, Teva and China Resources Guangdong Pharmaceutical continue to join hands for further in-depth cooperation.
