This marks the first recorded use of surgical sutures on living human bodies. From the catgut of ancient Greece to today's advanced antimicrobial suture products, what seems like an inconspicuous step in surgical procedures has been a subject of human contemplation for millennia. In 1876, Joseph Lister, the British surgeon who introduced the concept of antiseptic surgery, delivered a speech at the medical conference of the Philadelphia World Expo. His speech greatly inspired a young American, igniting his entrepreneurial passion. This young man was Mr. Robert Wood Johnson. In 1886, Johnson & Johnson was officially registered, becoming one of the first companies in the world capable of mass-producing sterile sutures. This advancement propelled the development of modern sterile surgery, and the survival rate of patients in American hospitals rapidly improved. In 1974, Ethicon launched Vicryl.®Sutures, which are absorbable braided sutures within the skin, are stronger and softer. In 2003, Antibacterial WeiJohnson®The birth of sutures: This is the first antibacterial suture containing triclosan, which can prevent bacterial colonization and reduce the risk of surgical site infection by 28%.Having leapt beyond the confines of bacteria, Johnson & Johnson has continuously innovated and broken new ground in the suture business field over the past two decades, driving the development of surgical quality and safety.Leading Innovation for Two Decades: A Milestone Antibacterial New Product Launches with Impact2023 Marks the 20th Anniversary of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology's Antibacterial Sutures Global Launch. Antibacterial singleJohnson®The material helps reduce tissue reaction; the further upgraded antibacterial process helps lower the risk of surgical site infections; the single-strand suture is soft, smooth, and easy to handle, while the fine and sharp needle reduces tissue damage, multidimensionally minimizing the risk of additional scarring caused by suturing based on the mechanism of scar formation. Antibacterial single...Johnson®Fine beauty sutures are designed to provide clinically superior skin-level cosmetic suturing products, offering patients more confident healing outcomes.Antibacterial FormJohnson®Fine Beauty SuturesAntibacterial Pudis®(GAMMA) is also a newly upgraded antibacterial absorbable monofilament suture, which is about to be approved for marketing in China. It has multiple advantages, including inhibiting the increase of bacterial count, effectively suppressing seven common bacteria that cause surgical site infections. Studies have shown that its antibacterial duration lasts up to 17-23 days, reducing the risk of surgical site infections; the monofilament structure reduces tissue damage caused by suture drag; long-term support: effective support lasts up to 6 weeks and remains stable in an alkaline environment, reducing the risk of wound dehiscence during the healing period.

Antibacterial SingleJohnson®With Antibacterial Pudis®The strong combination brings a 1+1>2 effect to the industry. As the newly upgraded antibacterial sutures, both products have expanded the antibacterial spectrum of the second-generation antibacterial sutures to include "Enterobacter cloacae," one of the common bacteria causing hospital-acquired infections and surgical site infections, as well as one of the most lethal pathogens. At the same time, a numerical declaration of antibacterial efficacy was released for the first time, with quantitative results showing an antibacterial effect of 99.99%. To identify the upgraded antibacterial sutures, all packaging features the PLUS gold shield logo.In addition, as the world's first showcase of Ethicon Stratafix (STRATAFIX™ Spiral Monocryl™ Plus-Spectacle) has also received significant attention. Building on the advantage of its original soft material, it adds the feature of being "colored," which helps doctors identify the suture under endoscopy and effectively enhances the precision of operations. It fills the market gap for knotless products that combine dyeing technology with soft material, making it more suitable for endoscopic general surgery, urology, gynecology, and other procedures. The Ethicon barbed suture Spectacle has also been approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), becoming the first global new product from Johnson & Johnson Medical to enter the Chinese market with "zero time difference."STRATAFIX™ Spiral Monocryl™ Plus-SpectacleAt the same time, a new generation of antibacterial WeiJohnson®-Octopus is a brand-new product developed, manufactured, and launched in China for the first time based on local clinical needs.
