High-Quality Medical Resources Reach Lower Levels, Danaher Boosts Capacity of China’s County-Level Cancer Prevention and Treatment Centers
Huang ErDan, Minister of the Health Strategy and Service System Department of the Health Development Research Center of the National Health Commission, pointed out that the signing of this strategic cooperation marks a deeper level of collaboration between the two parties in the field of health, contributing significant strength to the construction of county-level cancer prevention centers and the further development of the health care sector. It is hoped that this cooperation will fully leverage Danaher's expertise in lean management to further promote more inclusive medical services and meet the needs of more patients.
Wei Chunyan, Vice President of Government Affairs at Danaher China, stated that Danaher Corporation promotes scientific concepts and drives value-based healthcare. Last year, the corporation collaborated with the China Health Development Research Center on a lean management project for county-level hospitals, establishing a strong foundation for cooperation. She expressed hopes for further collaboration in the future to support the "Thousand Counties Project," extending high-quality medical services to a broader patient population.
Xiu Jing, Director of the Broad Market Business of Danaher China's Medical Diagnostics Platform, stated that Danaher has proposed a county-level cancer prevention and treatment center construction solution targeting the diagnostic and treatment capabilities for cancer in grassroots China. Centered around the cancer diagnosis and treatment pathway, it provides product solutions, establishes a health management model for county-level cancer prevention and treatment centers in China, sets standards, creates benchmarks, and builds models in strategic cooperation areas, comprehensively enhancing the integrated cancer prevention and treatment capabilities at the county level.
The goal of this strategic cooperation is closely aligned with the important agenda of China's health work, aiming to support the continuous development of the health system. In particular, the two parties will focus on promoting the "14th Five-Year Plan" proposed by the National Health Commission - the County Hospital Comprehensive Capacity Improvement Work Plan (2021-2025). This plan emphasizes the establishment of cancer prevention and treatment centers as a key measure to integrate medical resources within counties, address the insufficient medical service and management capabilities of county-level hospitals, and meet the needs of a broader patient population.
In October this year, the "2023 China County-level Tumor Prevention and Treatment Center Construction Project and County-level Tumor Multidisciplinary Collaboration Integrated Construction Action Plan" National Promotion Conference was successfully held in Beijing. Numerous experts, scholars, and hospital administrators in the field of health discussed the development direction and implementation path for the construction of county-level tumor prevention and treatment centers and the integrated action plan for multidisciplinary collaboration. The project aims to collaboratively build 20 physical centers, focusing on cancer and chronic disease management, forming a closed loop for cancer prevention and treatment work from screening, diagnosis, and treatment to health management, serving the construction of medical consortiums.
Building on this, Danaher and the Hospital Management Branch of the Chinese Health Economics Association will deepen their cooperation, focusing on systemic frameworks, evaluation metrics, personnel training, equipment selection, and health economics assessments in the field of cancer center development at county-level medical institutions. Through joint efforts, the two parties will provide comprehensive, full-cycle management solutions for cancer patients in these counties, ensuring that more high-quality medical resources are accessible to serve a greater number of patients in China.
