The "14th Five-Year Plan for Health Talent Development" issued by the National Health Commission in 2022 pointed out, "It is necessary to broaden channels, advance collaboratively, and strengthen the construction of health talent teams." As a global leader in the life sciences industry with the mission of "Shared Health, Eliminating Hunger," Bayer is very pleased to once again partner with Tsinghua University, committing to assist provinces across China in promoting high-quality development in public hospitals, establishing professional training systems, and advancing innovative measures for health talent cultivation in China. Meanwhile, the "Go West Initiative" will leverage Tsinghua University’s academic strengths to explore Sino-German academic exchanges in the health sector, fostering mutual progress.

According to reports, after more than ten years of continuous efforts, the "Walking into the West" project has become a strong supplement to the talent team training plan in China. It provides a practical model worth learning from for establishing a long-term and comprehensive public hospital health talent training system. Through the optimized combination of government leadership, enterprise participation, local support, and hospital benefits, the capabilities and levels of public hospital management personnel and technical staff can be effectively improved, better serving the health of the Chinese people.

Zhang Zongjiu, Standing Vice Dean of the Institute of Hospital Management at Tsinghua University, emphasized, "Bayer is a truly needed good partner and friend in the development of China's healthcare industry. Over the past 16 years, the ‘Walking into the West’ project has aligned with the health priorities of each province, adhering to the principle of ‘teaching what is needed.’ It has focused on enhancing the soft power of healthcare talent and promoting the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. The scope, content, and effectiveness of the project have continuously expanded, providing practical support for the training of local healthcare professionals, achieving the goal of resource sharing, enriching content, and creating win-win outcomes for all parties involved. The collaboration between Tsinghua and Bayer will leverage past experience, knowledge, and capabilities, while integrating academic achievements and organizational expertise in healthcare system management to further advance talent cultivation."
