During the 6th China International Import Expo, GSK partnered with Xinhuanet Co., Ltd. to host a roundtable conference themed "Healthy Aging, Prevention First." At the event, Peng Derong, Director of the Pengpu Xincun Community Health Service Center in Shanghai, discussed the importance of preventing infectious diseases as one of the key responsibilities of community health service centers. Vaccines are one of the most cost-effective methods for preventing infectious diseases. As gatekeepers of residents' health, community health service centers play a crucial role in safeguarding public health.
Peng Derong stated that community health service centers, through family签约services, health assessments, and other methods, while utilizing big data technology, focus not only on current patients but also more on the risks of diseases. During the health assessment process, it is possible to identify which populations are at risk of infectious diseases and which are at risk of chronic diseases. In response to these issues, community health service centers will provide corresponding health recommendations. For example, if it is found that a resident's pneumococcal vaccine protection period has expired, they will recommend timely booster shots; for residents who meet the relevant age requirements, they may suggest timely vaccination against shingles. By conveying the concept of 'being the first person responsible for your own health' to residents, prevention is prioritized, continuously improving vaccination rates among middle-aged and elderly people in the community, preventing common infectious diseases, truly acting as health gatekeepers, and strengthening the disease prevention line for middle-aged and elderly individuals.
