On November 16, 2023, GE Healthcare China's third "Innovation Center" officially opened in Zhangjiang, Pudong, Shanghai. As a member of the Pudong Large Enterprises Open Innovation Center (GOI), the Shanghai "Innovation Center" will focus on digital medical technology and application innovation, serving as the "smart brain" to empower GE Healthcare China's R&D, an incubation platform supporting specialized and innovative enterprises, and a one-stop platform to accelerate the transformation of digital healthcare achievements. This reflects GE Healthcare’s global precision medicine strategy following its spin-off.AlsoThis is another milestone in the deep advancement of GE Healthcare's China strategy, which focuses on "comprehensive localization, boundaryless innovation, and win-win cooperation." The center is dedicated to bridging global resource allocation with scientific and technological innovation capabilities,打通国际国内的产学研用生态链条,and further boosting the development of Shanghai as a science and technology innovation hub while promoting the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.。
As GE Healthcare's first innovation platform in China focusing on digital healthcare, the Shanghai "Innovation Center" initially covers an area of 4,000 square meters, making it the largest and most comprehensive innovation entity among GE Healthcare’s three Innovation Centers.。Currently, the center has 100 R&D experts, with the first batch of four digital technology companies having moved in. Shanghai's "Innovation Center" will continue to empower GE Healthcare's 1,800 R&D engineers in China through digital innovation, serving as the "innovative brain" driving GE Healthcare’s R&D in China. Together with ecosystem partners, it will explore the implementation of cutting-edge digital technologies and integrated diagnosis-treatment solutions.

As the practical application of digital healthcare scenarios continues to deepen, the need for a more flexible and open innovative model to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technologies and patient care services has become increasingly urgent. To this end, starting from 2021, GE Healthcare has implemented "one layout per year," consecutively launching three "Innovation Centers" in Beijing, Wuxi, and Shanghai over three years. Each center focuses on its respective strengths, creating incubation platforms targeting the supply chain, imaging chain, and digital chain.
Currently, GE Healthcare's "Innovation Center" has collaborated with over 40 partners from various fields. Specifically, in artificial intelligence alone, more than 30 digital products/technologies have been integrated for innovative development and applied in clinical settings. The center continues to focus on four key areas: "Global + China" original innovation, the integration of digital and physical technologies, industry-academia-research-application collaboration, and innovation incubation. These efforts aim to accelerate the construction of a localized medical innovation ecosystem in China and promote the "mutual advancement" of digital technology and clinical applications.
