On November 15, Verici Dx PLC, a British transplant diagnostics company, announced that it had signed an exclusive global licensing and commercialization agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. to further develop a pre-transplant prognostic assay for detecting the risk of early kidney rejection.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Verici DX grants Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. an exclusive license to develop and offer assays for pre-transplant risk assessment in its U.S. CLIA laboratory, while also granting Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. global rights to commercialize the test in other regions worldwide.
Verici DX stated that the purpose of the collaboration is to develop a test that risk-stratifies patients based on their potential immune response to a transplanted kidney, enabling clinicians to make more informed decisions regarding post-transplant and immunosuppression management.
The company said that its technology uses artificial intelligence to analyze the transcriptome and provide RNA signatures, which may offer information on immune responses and other biological pathways crucial for transplant outcomes, including injury, rejection, and the risk of graft failure surrounding kidney transplantation.
