Beigene Secures Global Rights to Oral CDK2 Inhibitor in $1.33B Deal with Ensem Therapeutics

Recently, Beigene and Ensem Therapeutics (hereinafter referred to as "Ensem Therapeutics") jointly announced a licensing cooperation agreement,BeOne Medicines has obtained the global exclusive licensing rights from Ensem Therapeutics for an investigational oral cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) inhibitor that is about to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application.According to the terms of the agreement, OncoMed will receive an upfront payment and milestone payments based on specific R&D, regulatory, and commercial achievements.Entitled to receive total payments that could potentially reach up to 1.33 billion US dollars.

There is a significant and unmet clinical need in the field of breast cancer, and this collaboration aligns perfectly with our strategic focus in breast cancer."Ensem Therapeutics' CDK2 inhibitor complements the company's self-developed CDK4 inhibitor, which is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials. This combination has the potential to enhance the therapeutic effects of existing CDK4/6 inhibitors in specific breast cancer patients and strengthen our early-stage R&D pipeline in breast cancer and other solid tumors."We look forward to working with Ensem Therapeutics to advance this molecule into clinical trials in the near future."
