Computation-Driven Innovative Drug R&D Provider
ShenzhenNovember 22, 2023PR Newswire -- Recently, XtalPi announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore's national drug discovery and development platform, Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC), to expand collaboration in automated synthesis experiments and the application of large language models in drug discovery. Building on the AI- and robotics-driven non-small cell lung cancer drug R&D cooperation agreement signed in 2022, this MoU will focus on accelerating the translation of scientific research achievements into pipeline assets, jointly promoting the automation and intelligent upgrading of drug R&D.
In the new collaboration, XtalPi and EDDC will expand their cooperation in the fields of automated chemical synthesis and AI-driven drug design, exploring how to integrate XtalPi's automated library synthesis, drug development synthesis services, and other solutions into EDDC’s R&D processes. XtalPi's large-scale automated robotic laboratories can remotely support EDDC’s experimental needs and generate high-quality data in bulk, further strengthening EDDC’s drug discovery capabilities. By combining robotic experimentation with AI, they aim to develop and explore advanced algorithms and industrial practices in this field.
XtalPi will also explore potential projects with EDDC that apply advanced AI algorithms such as large language models to drug discovery. The two companies will combine high-throughput, automated cutting-edge experimental technologies to uncover potential value in cell phenotypes and multi-omics data, thereby gaining new perspectives through richer datasets, and developing AI and data-driven new technologies and research methods in the fields of target discovery and molecular design. This collaboration will fully leverage XtalPi's technological advantages in AI and EDDC's accumulated experience in R&D data, preclinical, and clinical research.
Dr. Liang Gu, Chief Technology Officer of XtalPi, stated, "As an innovative platform company, XtalPi is committed to widely empowering industry partners through its AI + robotics-driven digital twin R&D system. EDDC boasts a strong scientific team and a diverse research pipeline, while XtalPi's self-developed automated synthesis laboratory is specifically designed for the complex and exploratory experimental tasks in drug discovery. Not only can it grow alongside EDDC’s pipeline, but it can also help EDDC accumulate large-scale standardized R&D data, paving the way for advanced intelligent technologies like large models to drive scientific research. We look forward to deepening our collaboration, which will enable EDDC to continuously shorten the cycle of translating biological research findings into clinical drugs with higher experimental throughput, efficiency, and success rates, allowing more high-quality and efficient medicines to benefit patients across Asia and globally at an earlier stage."
Dr. Wei Dong Hao, Chief Scientific Officer of EDDC, said: "We are very pleased to embark on this journey with XtalPi. Leveraging XtalPi's automated experimental resources and AI capabilities, we aim to enhance our knowledge and skills in the field of drug discovery and development. Through this partnership, we look forward to further accelerating EDDC's drug discovery process and achieving our goal of providing innovative therapies to patients worldwide more quickly."
