Recently, ShapeTX announced the expansion of its partnership with Roche, which was initially established in August 2021. The current partnership has added new targets. This expansion marks the beginning of a new initiative, with ShapeTX utilizing its proprietary AI-driven RNA editing platform to develop a potential one-time therapy for patients with a high unmet need suffering from undisclosed diseases that affect millions worldwide. ShapeTX will conduct preclinical studies to identify and provide development candidates discovered by the AI-driven RNAfix platform. Shape Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to developing groundbreaking RNA technologies. At the core of these technologies is the ShapeTX AI engine. In August 2021, ShapeTX collaborated with Roche to apply its proprietary RNA editing platform for developing gene therapies targeting certain indications in the Alzheimer's disease field, as well as Parkinson's disease and rare diseases. During the collaboration, ShapeTX will conduct preclinical research to identify and deliver candidate drugs discovered by its AI-driven platform RNAfi. Roche will be responsible for the development and global commercialization of any potential products arising from the collaboration. By applying its proprietary RNA editing platform RNAfix™, and potentially leveraging its next-generation tissue-specific adeno-associated virus (AAV) AAVid™ technology platform, to develop gene therapies targeting certain indications in the fields of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and rare diseases. According to the terms of the agreement, ShapeTX is eligible to receive an upfront payment as well as development, regulatory, and sales milestone payments.Total value exceeding 3 billion US dollars.
