Hu Chengwen: AI Technology is Transforming the Healthcare Industry and Accelerating Pharmaceutical R&D

Under the theme of "Healthy China, Innovation Empowerment," more than a hundred guests, including government leaders, well-known experts and scholars, and prominent entrepreneurs, gathered to discuss innovation and practices in the health field, contributing to the advancement of the health industry and the construction of Healthy China. At the forum, Hu Chengwen, Chief Technology Officer of DP Technology, stated that the application of AI technology in the healthcare industry will transform the development model of the industry and bring new innovative breakthroughs to pharmaceutical research and development.

Hu Chengwen stated that artificial intelligence (AI) technology can solve practical problems by processing massive amounts of data and applying AI models. However, in the life sciences field, the application of AI requires a new paradigm. Traditional AI models cannot be directly applied to conventional fields due to relatively lower data volume and quality. Therefore, AI for Science proposes a new approach: leveraging AI to learn physics, chemistry, and mathematical models, simulating real-world data, and addressing scientific research and computational challenges in industry.

Hu Chengwen pointed out that in the microscopic field, solving specific equation problems requires a huge amount of computation, posing extremely high demands on computational resources. However, through the AI for Science approach, the complex scientific research problems have been successfully simulated, achieving remarkable results in the pharmaceutical field. For instance, in the area of biology and drug discovery, the application of AI will address many R&D challenges, including finding appropriate methods, analyzing molecular structures, and performing dynamic sampling.

Hu Chengwen believes that AI technology has brought new opportunities, such as solutions in the fields of target discovery, small molecule drug design, and macromolecules. The application of AI technology has significantly reduced R&D costs and time while improving the efficiency of drug development. Through AI technology, scientists are able to more accurately predict molecular structures, design molecular libraries, and optimize molecular properties.
