
On December 4, Pfizer's oral innovative drug Leflunomide®(Common name: Ritlecitinib Tosylate Capsules) has been rapidly rolled out across China just over a month after its approval, bringing a new treatment option to Chinese adolescents aged 12 and above and adults with severe alopecia areata.1. Rejoove™, a drug developed by Pfizer with global synchronized clinical trials and registration, will officially launch through multiple online and offline channels to meet the clinical needs of different patients, accelerating access for more Chinese patients with alopecia areata.

Professor Zhang Jianzhong, Director of the Hair Group of the Chinese Medical Association's Dermatology and Venereology Branch and from Peking University People's Hospital, issued the first prescription and stated, "Alopecia areata is a psychosomatic disease, with immune abnormalities being the main cause, while anxiety, depression, and other factors also play a certain role in the onset of the disease."2The newly launched Ritlecitinib Tosylate has good efficacy,"Bring a new systemic JAK treatment solution to Chinese patients with alopecia areata, apart from traditional treatments, and also help patients strengthen their confidence in treatment and start standardized treatment."

Professor Zhang Xingqi from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University issued the first prescription for the patient and remarked, "The launch of Ritlecitinib Tosylate in China is a milestone in the treatment of severe alopecia areata. Professor Fan Weixin from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital) issued the first prescription for a patient and introduced, "Severe alopecia areata should be treated as early as possible; delaying treatment will only increase the difficulty of treatment. Ritlecitinib Tosylate is a systemic oral medication that suppresses abnormal immune responses and is a dual JAK3/TEC inhibitor, providing more optional treatment options in clinical practice."

Alopecia areata is an inflammatory autoimmune disease that typically occurs on the scalp but can also affect facial hair such as eyebrows, eyelashes, and beards, as well as body hair in other areas.4A survey conducted across six provinces in China revealed that the prevalence of alopecia areata in China is 0.27%, with approximately 4 million patients.5Nearly 18.1% of patients with alopecia areata were diagnosed before the age of 18.6。In the future, Pfizer will actively explore more innovative channels, integrating with major hospitals across China and internet hospital platforms. While promoting the application of innovative drugs in outpatient services and providing clinical doctors with new treatment options, Pfizer will also offer patients more convenient medication services, helping more patients regain confidence and embrace a new life.
