1. ChatGPT Selected as One of the Top Ten People of the Year by Nature

On December 14, 2023, Nature announced its list of the top ten individuals of 2023 (Nature's 10). This list aims to select ten people who have made significant contributions to major scientific events of the year. The stories of these ten individuals encapsulate some of the most important scientific events of this extraordinary year from a unique perspective. Three of the individuals recognized this year have driven key advancements in biomedicine. On December 12, Chengdu Taihe Weiye Biotechnology Co., Ltd. underwent industrial and commercial changes, adding several new shareholders including CITIC Securities Investment Co., Ltd. and Maotai Jinshi (Guizhou) Industrial Development Fund Partnership (Limited Partnership). Chengdu Taihe Weiye Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was established in January 2013, with Qi Wei as the legal representative. Its business scope includes biotechnology research and development, business consulting, and import and export of goods. It was reported that recently, Taihe Weiye completed its A+ round of financing. This round was led by CITIC Securities Investment Co., Ltd. and Maotai Jinshi Fund under Jinshi Investment, with participation from Qiming Venture Partners, Hony Capital, Jiayuan Capital, and others. This is the first public investment by the Maotai Jinshi Fund after completing its registration in August this year.

3. Chenchen Pharmaceutical Completes Over 100 Million Yuan in Series A Financing

Recently, Hunan Chencheng Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. ("Chencheng Pharma") announced the successful completion of an over RMB 100 million Series A round of financing. This round was led by Oriza Ventures, with participation from Sanze Ventures and Jinyu Maowu.

5. Detailed Atlas of the Entire Mouse Brain Released

Recently, a series of papers published in *Nature* reported the most comprehensive cell atlas of the mammalian (mouse) brain to date. The complex and diverse activities in the mammalian brain are controlled by highly specialized neural circuits, which are composed of numerous cell types with varying functional properties. To understand how the brain operates, it is necessary to have detailed knowledge of brain cell types as well as the organization and function of neural circuits. Previous explorations of the brain were limited to selected regions, but this new set of papers provides a detailed investigation of the entire mouse brain, including characterization and classification of brain cell types.
