Illumina Partners with Shenzhen-based Hope Biosciences to Launch Domestic Next-Generation Sequencer in China

On December 12, Illumina, Inc. announced that it has partnered with Shenzhen Haplox to launch the China-produced sequencer NextSeq 2000Dx-Cn-Hap in China.

"This marks a new phase in the strategic partnership between the two companies," Illumina said in a statement. "In the future, Illumina and Haplox will take the localized manufacturing of high-end life science instruments as a new starting point, focus on scientific research innovation, and leverage the advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area."

Haplox, headquartered in Shenzhen, stated that the company has provided genetic testing services to hundreds of hospitals, biopharmaceutical companies, scientific research institutions, physical examination centers, insurance companies, and local governments across China.

The company said it focuses on gene sequencing, liquid biopsy tests, bioinformatics, and big data analysis. Its Shenzhen laboratory has passed CLIA and CAP certification.

In 2018, Haplox completed a US$32 million Series A+ round of financing, with investors including SB China Venture Capital and CASSTAR.
