On December 15, 2023, Cellular Biomedicine Group announced that it had amended the global collaboration and license agreement signed with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. According to the revised agreement, Janssen Pharmaceuticals will have the right to commercialize the CD20-targeted chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell products C-CAR039 and C-CAR066 in China.

Janssen will pay CBMG an option exercise fee at the time of exercise, and CBMG will receive milestone payments following the achievement of commercialization and sales milestones.
Currently, Cellular Biomedicine Group is conducting clinical research on C-CAR039 and C-CAR066 for the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). At the 65th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, the latest clinical data on C-CAR039 and C-CAR066 showed that both therapies have demonstrated the potential to become the best treatments in the field of relapsed/refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (r/rNHL).
The study of CAR039 showed that, with a median follow-up time of 30.0 months, the overall response rate was 91.5%, and the complete response rate was 85.1%; the study of C-CAR066 showed that, in LBCL patients who failed previous CD19 CAR-T treatment, the median follow-up time was 27.7 months, the overall response rate was 92.9%, and the complete response rate was 57.1%.
The study of C-CAR066 showed that, with a median follow-up time of 30.0 months, it demonstrated good safety and deep, durable efficacy in r/r B-NHL patients, especially in LBCL patients. Long-term follow-up indicated that C-CAR066 had favorable safety and significantly sustained efficacy in LBCL patients who failed prior CD19 CAR-T therapy.
Cellebrite Bio's CAR-T product pipeline is extensive, including not only the aforementioned two drugs but also C-CAR088 and Undisclosed CAR-T for the treatment of hematologic malignancies, C-CAR168 for inflammation and immune diseases, as well as C-CAR031, C-CAR036, and Armored CAR-T for solid tumors. |

Just a week ago, Cellular Biomedicine Group (CBMG) signed a co-development agreement with AstraZeneca. According to the terms of the agreement, CBMG and AstraZeneca will jointly develop and commercialize C-CAR031 in China, and CBMG will receive an upfront payment. CBMG will also be eligible for milestone payments and global development royalties when AstraZeneca independently develops, manufactures, and commercializes AZD5851 outside of China.
