
Developer of Treatment Drugs for Serious Diseases

On December 14, Amgen announced two senior executive appointments: James Bradner as Executive Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Scientific Officer, and David M. Reese as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Both Bradner and Reese report to Robert A. Bradway, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Amgen.

Bradner is a seasoned R&D executive who will be responsible for advancing all of Amgen's product pipelines, including innovative drugs and biosimilars, as well as the company’s global R&D efforts. Prior to joining Amgen, Bradner served as the President of the Biomedical Research Center at Novartis and was also a member of the Novartis Executive Committee. Notably, Bradner founded several biotechnology companies, including C4 Therapeutics and Tensha Therapeutics.
Reese joined Amgen in 2005 and has been leading the R&D department since 2018. During his tenure, Amgen has received regulatory approvals for multiple innovative drugs and biosimilars worldwide. Recently, Reese also served as the primary architect of Amgen's artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology initiatives, with a focus on R&D. He will now be responsible for accelerating the use of technology and artificial intelligence across all aspects of the organization.
