MOMA Therapeutics, founded in 2020, focuses on highly dynamic proteins associated with human diseases. By integrating key advances in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, chemistry, computational science, and functional genomics, MOMA has developed the KnowledgeBase platform.The platform exploits a universal weakness of dynamic proteins - their reliance on orderly, step-by-step protein conformational changes.MOMA Therapeutics utilizes this platform to target disease-causing targets, striving to create powerful precision medicines for patients with clinical needs. The company was selected for the annual list published by Fierce Biotech in 2021.Biotech PowerhouseList.
The KnowledgeBase platform is the cornerstone of MOMA's innovation, integrating structural-functional analysis, lead compound discovery technologies, and computationally enabled lead optimization. The platform was founded on the principle that,Targets with similar functions share a three-dimensional structural basis, even in the absence of sequence similarity. These foundations are key to developing transformative therapies.MOMA has successfully leveraged this unique platform to accelerate drug discovery, particularly within the ATPase target class. This class is known for its large number of genetically validated targets but has historically faced challenges in drug discovery due to the complexity of protein dynamic movements.
In this collaboration, MOMA will receive an upfront payment of $660 million and is eligible to obtain potential payments exceeding $2 billion from discovery, development, and commercialization milestones. MOMA will be responsible for all research and development activities leading to the selection of target candidates and the discovery of therapeutic candidates. Roche will be responsible for supporting IND application research, clinical development, and commercialization.
