HARDKOO has learned that BRAINTHINK (Hangzhou Xingyuan Intelligent Biotechnology Co., Ltd.) has recently received millions of yuan in angel+ round funding, with the investor being Xishan Angel Club. This round of financing will be used for new product development and market expansion. Previously, HARDKOO reported on BRAINTHINK's angel round funding. This is a company that provides brain-computer interface software and hardware equipment centered around non-invasive brain-computer interface technology.

BRAINTHINK's products primarily target patients with mental illnesses. Brain-computer interface technology can detect users' depressive emotions, anxiety, motor imagery, and attention. The first phase of BRAINTHINK's products are aimed at hospitals and professional institutions such as psychological diagnosis and treatment, providing them with a 16-channel wearable brain-computer interface device for mental health screening.

According to founder Wang Zhuozheng, the workflow of BRAINTHINK's brain-computer interface device is as follows: The subject wears a non-invasive electrode cap to collect EEG signals. After analog-to-digital conversion, the signals are transformed into digital signals and imported into the PC terminal. AI large models are then utilized to match different signals with indicators of various mental disorders, enabling precise classification and screening into four categories: "asymptomatic, mild, moderate, and severe."

Now, BRAINTHINK has developed a consumer-oriented smart brain ring, named "BrianThink Joyful Mind Ring." Unlike the 16-channel brain-computer interface devices, BrianThink only needs to capture dual-channel EEG signals from the forehead to obtain four emotional indicators: emotional changes, attention changes, mental stress, and concentration.

Wang Zhuozheng explained to Yank氪 that this is because the α waves in the frontal part of the human brain are emotionally strong. After users wear this intelligent brain ring on their heads, the electrode near the forehead can collect the user's EEG signals. This intelligent brain ring product will be applied in scenarios such as Alzheimer's tendency, concerns about children’s learning efficiency, and high workplace stress. Next, BRAINTHINK will also provide relevant courses within the APP, using non-invasive treatment methods to diagnose and treat depression.

Wang Zhuozheng stated that lossless treatment combines "diagnosis" with "healing." This approach is not only used for treating depression but also BRAINTHINK's brain-computer interface therapy is being applied in the field of active rehabilitation. "Many patients with movement disorders cannot lift their hands; lifting their hands represents passive rehabilitation for the patient. However, when patients wear a brain loop and simply generate the thought of lifting their hand, the brain sends signals through the neural pathway to the brain loop, which then transmits control signals to a mechanical hand to help the patient lift their hand. This is an active form of rehabilitation." Furthermore, brain-computer interface technology can also enable completely paralyzed individuals to control exoskeleton devices or even wheelchairs.

Notably, the accuracy of the algorithm is crucial to the accuracy of monitoring. According to reports, the overall algorithm accuracy of BRAINTHINK can reach up to 97%, while the average accuracy of intelligent devices is around 85%., data analysis models have been established according to different scenarios. Wang Zhuozheng explained that due to the possession of full independent intellectual property rights for all products, there is greater freedom in debugging model algorithms. The effective sample size of BRAINTHINK has reached several hundred thousand. Innovative methods were also adopted in model training to improve signal reconstruction accuracy and reduce baseline noise, among others. Ultimately, the overall performance of BRAINTHINK's algorithm model has surpassed the national standard for medical device levels.

BRAINTHINK's brain-computer interface technology is a research conversion achievement from Beijing University of Technology. The founding team mainly consists of professors from Beijing University of Technology. Founder Wang Zhuozheng is a professor at Beijing University of Technology, who has long been engaged in research on intelligent signal processing, deep learning, and other fields, with six authorized national invention patents. Chief Scientist Jia Kebin is also a professor at Beijing University of Technology and an academic leader in the field of multimedia information processing.

Investment Viewpoint

Liu Wenhong, Co-Founder of Xishan Angel ClubBRAINTHINK adopts non-invasive brain-computer interface technology and artificial intelligence technology to comprehensively analyze EEG signals, objectively assessing the risks of mental disorders such as depression and anxiety. Its algorithm model has demonstrated high accuracy. The launch and continuous improvement of BRAINTHINK's mental health diagnosis and treatment system will help medical institutions, psychological counseling organizations, and schools carry out depression screening and assistive treatment, helping more people overcome the harm caused by depression. Therefore, we believe that BRAINTHINK has broad social value and investment potential.

Moreover, Liu Wenhong also mentioned the core of investing in BRAINTHINK: The founder Wang Zhuozheng and the core team have a firm and clear vision for development and a strong sense of social responsibility. Multiple product pipelines help build a unique multi-scenario solution, promoting the rapid development of commercially viable brain-computer interface technology. The large model that the team plans to independently develop in the future will contribute to exploring more mature and intelligent rehabilitation treatment models and human-computer interaction modes, showing broad prospects. We have strong confidence in the future of BRAINTHINK.
