Investment Circle (ID: pedaily2012) January 30th news, Casibrain (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Casibrain Technology") announced the completionTens of Millions of Yuan in Series A Strategic Financing. This round of financing was led byBeijing Aeonmed Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Aeonmed") exclusively investedThe funds raised from this round of financing will be mainly used to accelerate the clinical trial process of multiple product lines, innovative product research and development, as well as marketing and sales efforts.
For this round of financing,Casibrain Technology Founder Zhang Xin"It is a great honor for Casibrain Technology to be recognized by Aeonmed. Aeonmed is a leading company in China specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of anesthesia and respiratory medical devices. Its product portfolio covers six major business segments: respiratory and ICU, anesthesia and operating room, emergency and disaster response, laminar flow and hospital engineering, sleep and respiratory disorders, and IVD. Aeonmed's products are not only innovative but also have almost full access to various channels. Moving forward, Casibrain Technology will leverage Aeonmed’s distribution and promotion network to expand its product coverage from individual points to broader markets. In terms of product development, in addition to the already developed innovative products, Casibrain Technology will continue to focus on three key areas—‘brain function monitoring,’ ‘brain function imaging,’ and ‘brain function treatment’—to create innovative medical device solutions. Throughout this process, we hope to collaborate with more clinical experts to transform brain science technologies into innovative medical devices that meet the needs of different clinical scenarios, serving the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease patients."
Casibrain Technology was incubated at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Researcher Tianzi Jiang, Director of the Brainnetome Center at the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a foreign academician of the European Academy of Sciences, serves as the chief scientist. Researcher Xin Zhang, key technology talent of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and leading talent in Zhongguancun, serves as the chairman and general manager. Under the guidance of Researcher Tianzi Jiang, the Brainnetome Center where the team is located has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the field of brain science. It has proposed significant achievements in brain science such as the new human brainnetome atlas and the photoelectric synchronous brain activity detector, providing strong support for Casibrain Technology to develop a comprehensive solution for brain science.
Focusing on cerebrovascular diseases, a major category of neurological disorders, Casibrain Technology continues to deepen its research and accelerate the transformation of the National Key Scientific Instrument Development Project supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology — the Photoelectric Synchronous Brain Activity Imaging Device. This has led to the creation of the world's first integrated multi-modal brain function imaging system that combines electroencephalography (EEG) with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Through brain-computer interface technology, it assists in evaluating the therapeutic effects for rehabilitation patients.
Currently, Casibrain Technology has applied for and been granted more than 50 intellectual property rights. It has developed product directions such as "Brain Physiology," "Brain Consciousness," and "Brain Function," and introduced a series of innovative devices, including non-invasive cerebral oxygen monitors, non-invasive whole-brain oxygen monitors, photoelectric synchronous multimodal brain imaging devices, and intelligent brain diagnosis and research platforms. These cover precision diagnosis and treatment of brain functional diseases and brain-computer feedback rehabilitation, transforming cutting-edge brain science technologies into clinically applicable medical device products through engineering and industrialization.
Building on existing technological advancements, enterprises have made further progress. Targeting stroke centers and in collaboration with the team led by Professor Ji Xunming, Vice President of Capital Medical University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, they achieved non-invasive, continuous, precise, and real-time monitoring of eight deep brain regions, including the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes. This effort resulted in the development of an innovative medical device—the Non-invasive Whole-brain Oxygen Saturation Monitor. In November 2022, this project received special support from the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and in December 2023, it was approved by the National Medical Products Administration as an "innovative medical device." The breakthrough enables monitoring from a single brain region to multiple regions across the entire brain. With this product, Casibrain Technology’s range of applications will be further expanded. In addition to use in anesthesiology and intensive care units, the product has also found practical application in scenarios such as stroke centers.
One of the core technologies of this device lies in the construction of a multi-layered hierarchical tissue model of the whole brain. Based on a large amount of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data from the Brainnetome Center of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, parameters such as skull thickness, density, and optical transmittance of various brain regions were set to build an accurate optical and structural tissue model of the head. This has enabled optical simulation experiments for different brain regions, providing a foundation for subsequent algorithm development as well as the transmission and reception of optical signals.
One of the core technologies of this device lies in the development of an enhanced probe technology. This technology utilizes a light-guiding structure, along with components such as lenses and light guides, as well as a planned optical path, enabling light to be transmitted and received along extremely fine pathways. It addresses issues of interference faced by optical methods due to hair, skin tone, and other factors, allowing effective monitoring of brain areas covered by hair. Additionally, the device features synchronous monitoring capabilities, ensuring that eight-channel optical signals are transmitted and received simultaneously, avoiding data delays and inconsistencies, thereby enhancing the accuracy and real-time performance of the monitoring.
For this round of financing,Deng Yongru, Vice General Manager of Aeonmed"It said, 'In recent years, brain function protection has become a clinical focal point in the field of anesthesiology and intensive care units. Casibrain Technology, as a company incubated by a renowned domestic and international brain science team, has an inherent advantage in fundamental brain science research. At the same time, it is dedicated to the development of innovative devices for clinical scenarios. With its non-invasive cerebral oxygen monitor, the company quickly turned the product into a highly competitive one and successfully tapped into the European hospital market. As a leading enterprise in the large-scale R&D and manufacturing of anesthesia and respiratory medical equipment in China, we will support the scaled promotion of Casibrain Technology’s products, accelerating their expansion from 1 to 100. Additionally, leveraging our years of experience in innovative product development, we will assist Casibrain Technology in promoting more of its innovative products both domestically and internationally.'"
