On February 12, 2024, THINK Surgical, an innovative orthopedic surgical robotics company, announced that it would enter into a new cooperation agreement with German company Waldemar Link GmbH & Co. KG (LINK), which is renowned for its innovative joint replacement solutions.
Through this collaboration, THINK Surgical will add the LinkSymphoKnee system (knee replacement implant) to its ID-HUB™ database. ID-HUB™ is a proprietary database of implant modules that can be used with the company's TMINI™ micro-robotic system.
THINK Surgical is committed to providing an open platform for orthopedic surgical robotics, supporting orthopedic implants produced by multiple manufacturers. To further fulfill this commitment, THINK Surgical is pleased to add LINK implants to its ID-HUB database, offering surgeons using the TMINI robotic system more options for achieving more personalized and precise surgical outcomes.

The TMINI system includes a wireless robotic handpiece that assists surgeons in total knee arthroplasty and received its first U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance in April 2023. This time, adding the LinkSymphoKnee system to THINK Surgical’s ID HUB database will enable customers using LINK implants to access robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty technology in the U.S.THINK Surgical has begun developing the implant module and plans to seek FDA approval in the coming months to use the TMINI system in conjunction with the LinkSymphoKnee system. The cooperation between LINK and THINK Surgical aligns with LINK's commitment to providing the most innovative solutions to the market.

THINK Surgical President and CEO Stuart Simpson stated that LINK has a long history of innovative product development and adopting cutting-edge technology. The company is excited about the new collaboration with LINK, which will provide more treatment options for customers and patients in the United States.
The TMINI system includes a wireless robotic handpiece that assists surgeons in total knee arthroplasty. According to a CT-based 3D surgical plan, the TMINI robotic handpiece automatically compensates for the surgeon's hand movements to position bone pins along precisely defined planes. A cutting guide is then attached to the bone pins for accurate bone resection. The TMINI is easy to use and can replace many of the instruments currently used in knee replacement surgeries.
THINK Surgical is committed to an open implant platform and will continue to add new implant options to the platform over time. This open implant approach, combined with the ease of use of the TMINI system, is expected to attract a broad customer base that may have resisted robotic technology until now.
