Oligonucleotide Therapy Developer
Elsie Biotechnologies today announced that, following the successful research collaboration announced in July 2023, GSK has exercised its option for a non-exclusive license to Elsie’s discovery platform to explore the platform’s capabilities. This will allow GSK to incorporate Elsie’s discovery platform and P(V) chemistry technology into its oligonucleotide drug discovery research.

Elsie Biotechnologies is committed to fully realizing the potential of oligonucleotide therapies by integrating drug discovery, development, and delivery processes to enhance therapeutic efficacy, reduce toxicity, and optimize delivery. Elsie's discovery platform is an ultra-high-throughput proprietary process capable of comprehensively evaluating the chemical space of oligonucleotide molecules.By applying its proprietary coding technology to oligonucleotide therapeutic candidates, researchers can evaluate all possible nucleotide sequences or chemical modification patterns to enhance activity, reduce toxicity, and improve delivery. In addition, Elsie also applies its proprietary P(V) chemistry technology, including a set of novel reagents and processes, to synthesize a variety of oligonucleotide therapies in a fully synthetic controlled manner.
According to the terms of the agreement, Elsie will receive a licensing payment from GSK and is eligible for additional development and commercial milestones based on specific targets.
GSK is active in the oligonucleotide field and reached a $170 million agreement with Wave Life Sciences in December 2022.Cooperation, to utilize the company's oligonucleotide platform, which provides three RNA-targeting modalities: editing, splicing, and silencing. Additionally, GSK's collaboration with Ionis Pharmaceuticals involves antisenseOligonucleotideDrugbepirovirsenTwo Phase 3 trials are currently underway for the potential "functional cure" for hepatitis B virus infection, which received Fast Track designation from the U.S. FDA this week. GSK is also collaborating with Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals to develop GSK4532990, which is in Phase 2 development for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
