On February 14, 2024, during the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting (AAOS), b-ONE Ortho and THINK Surgical announced a strategic partnership. THINK Surgical’s orthopedic surgical robot will collaborate with the MOBIOTM Total Knee System to expand into the U.S. market.

The MOBIO® Total Knee Arthroplasty System, led by Professor Richard Rothman and Dr. Mark Kester, incorporates the expertise of clinicians from China, France, the United States, and Canada. It utilizes a single-radius femoral design concept, offering excellent kinematic stability and patient compatibility. Since its FDA approval in the United States in 2019, the MOBIO® system has been implanted in dozens of countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific, North America, the Middle East, and South America, with its outstanding postoperative patient satisfaction and health economic value being widely validated.
The MOBIO® system offers prosthetic options such as PS, PS+, CR, and CR+, allowing for the selection of implants based on patient needs and surgeon preferences. In the Chinese market, the MOBIO® knee system is divided into two series: domestically produced and imported. The surgical instruments are compatible and interchangeable, and both series have received approval from China's NMPA and are currently on the market. Notably, the imported products feature a design with vitamin E-infused highly cross-linked polyethylene inserts.

This strategic cooperation with THINK Surgical in the largest medical market, the United States, will comprehensively deepen b-ONE's development in the field of orthopedic intelligence. Meanwhile, in December 2023, the knee surgery robot independently developed by b-ONE received approval from the Chinese regulatory authority and has already begun trials in major hospitals across China.
According to the AAOS 2024 report, in the U.S. market, nearly 40% of knee replacement surgeries directly or indirectly utilize intelligent products, while in hip replacement surgeries, the proportion using intelligent methods reaches 20%. The future of digital and intelligent orthopedics is clear, but the road ahead remains challenging.
