C4 Therapeutics (C4T) announced today that it has entered into a licensing and collaboration agreement with Merck KGaA, Germany.Collaborative development of targeted protein degraders for two key oncogenic protein targets advanced in C4T's internal pipeline.Under the terms of the agreement, C4T will receive an upfront payment of $16 million. Merck KGaA will fund C4T's discovery research efforts. C4T is eligible to receive up to approximately $740 million in discovery, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments throughout the collaboration.

C4 Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to realizing the potential of targeted protein degradation, creating a new generation of drugs, and transforming patients' lives.C4 Therapeutics is advancing targeted cancer treatment programs through clinical research and leveraging its TORPEDO platform to efficiently design and optimize small-molecule protein degraders, including molecular glues and bifunctional protein degradation molecules., to address difficult-to-treat diseases. C4T's protein degradation drugs aim to leverage the body's natural protein recycling system to rapidly degrade disease-causing proteins, with the potential to overcome drug resistance, undruggable targets, and improve patient outcomes.

As part of the collaboration, C4T will utilize its proprietary TORPEDO platform to discover degraders targeting oncogenic proteins of interest to the partner. Merck KGaA will be responsible for the clinical development and commercialization of the candidate drugs emerging from these projects.
