On March 8, the Abbott FreeStyle Libre管家 WeChat Mini Program was officially launched. This mini program is specifically designed for Chinese users, aligning with their usage habits and multi-dimensional health management needs. By providing comprehensive glucose management support and services from home to hospital, it is expected to become a "smart partner" for diabetes patients, their relatives, and healthcare professionals, empowering a full-course intelligent blood glucose management system.

Guo Jing, General Manager of Abbott's Diabetes Care Business in Greater China, said: "After the debut of the Abbott FreeStyle Libre Guardian WeChat Mini Program at the 2023 CIIE, it was quickly implemented. This is another significant step by Abbott to meet the diverse health management needs of local users through digital innovation and fulfill its long-term commitment. In the future, Abbott will continue to leverage its 'Global Products + Local Digital Solutions' strategy, constantly exploring and improving the digital management model for diabetes, building a patient-centered smart blood glucose monitoring and management closed-loop in China, and contributing to the realization of the Healthy China 2030 goals."

Currently, the number of diabetes patients in China exceeds 140 million, ranking first in the world. It is projected to increase to 174 million by 2045. Research shows that glucose management for diabetes patients has primarily relied on passive medical visits and self-management, lacking systematic and standardized glucose management. This has resulted in suboptimal blood glucose control rates among diabetes patients. Therefore, once diagnosed, scientific and continuous intelligent standardized management is urgently needed.

The Abbott FreeStyle Libre管家 WeChat Mini Program fully considers the practical needs of Chinese patients for daily disease management, aiming to provide patients with a convenient and personalized one-stop blood sugar control experience. After synchronizing data with the FreeStyle Libre App on the mobile phone, the WeChat Mini Program integrates multiple functions such as blood glucose monitoring, diabetes education, medication tracking, exercise, and dietary management, helping patients comprehensively and systematically understand their condition progress and take an active role in managing their health.

At the same time, the mini-program can provide a one-stop connection for the patient end, family & friends end, and medical staff end, realizing a closed-loop of digital blood glucose management, allowing users to truly benefit from the intelligent blood glucose management brought by FreeStyle Libre. Among its features, the "one-click share" function enables family, friends, and doctors to stay updated on the patient's blood glucose status at any time, supporting blood glucose management and remote access. In "Professional Medical Mode," doctors can visually and conveniently track continuous blood glucose monitoring and manage the entire disease course for their patients, improving the efficiency of precise management. In the future, Abbott will continue to cater to the usage habits and health management needs of Chinese users, further integrating online and offline service providers such as pharmaceutical e-commerce platforms, pharmacies, and commercial insurance companies. Continuous optimization and iteration of the FreeStyle Libre Manager WeChat mini-program will be carried out, with potential features and services including professional AGP chart interpretation, membership systems, and more, exploring further possibilities within the blood glucose ecosystem.

Professor Zhao Xiaolong from the Public Health Clinical Center affiliated with Fudan University in Shanghai stated: "China has a large population of people with diabetes, and we are very pleased to see that, through the use of advanced technologies like continuous glucose monitoring and localized WeChat mini-programs, we can integrate patients, caregivers, and professional healthcare providers. This elevates daily diabetes management into a multi-party care model, with experts available online at critical points, better serving diverse application scenarios, and helping blood glucose management enter the digital intelligence era."

As the world's leading continuous glucose monitoring technology, Abbott's FreeStyle Libre Continuous Glucose Monitoring System* has revolutionized traditional blood sugar testing methods, enabling "blood sugar monitoring without finger pricks" and "scan with your phone to measure blood sugar," ushering in a new era of "one-stop + multi-scenario" digital diabetes management. The FreeStyle Libre is also currently the only continuous glucose monitoring system in China approved for use in children (aged 4 years and above).

In October 2022, FreeStyle Libre was awarded the "Golden Jubilee Award" by the Galien Foundation. Known as the "Nobel Prize of Medicine," the Galien Award recognizes outstanding scientific innovations that contribute to improving human health. The "Golden Jubilee Award" honors the most exceptional innovation from all Galien Award winners between 1970 and 2020. Abbott's FreeStyle Libre won the gold medal in the Best Medical Technology category. Currently, over 5.5 million people across more than 60 countries have benefited from FreeStyle Libre.

As a global leader in diabetes management, Abbott remains committed to patient-centric care and continues to deepen the intelligent diabetes management ecosystem. In the future, Abbott will keep focusing on the practical needs of diabetes management in China, exploring new pathways for the development of diabetes health management. This way, advanced technologies with warmth and thoughtful, high-quality services can benefit more patients, allowing them to fully enjoy the brilliance of life.
