METiS Pharmaceuticals Appoints Dr. Wei Xu as Chief Scientific Officer to Accelerate mRNA Pipeline Development

Dr. Xu Wei is a scientist with a profound academic background in multiple fields such as immunology, oncology, and cell therapy. His academic career began at the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2007. Subsequently, he joined the Baylor Institute for Immunology Research as a postdoctoral researcher, further accumulating valuable research experience. During his tenure at Roche Innovation Center (Switzerland), he led four pipelines into clinical stages, demonstrating exceptional R&D management capabilities. From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Xu served as Vice President and Head of New Drug Biology and Translational Medicine at Innovent Biologics (Suzhou), where he helped establish teams in cell therapy and translational medicine, driving the company's R&D team to transition from "Me-too" drugs to First-in-Class (FIC) and Best-in-Class (BIC) drug development capabilities. He then joined Numab Therapeutics (Switzerland) as Chief Scientific Officer, responsible for formulating the company’s overall R&D and pipeline strategy.
