Lonza to Acquire Roche's Vacaville Biologics Facility for $1.2 Billion and Invest Additional $560 Million

According to foreign media reports, Lonza Group plans to purchase Genentech's large biologics production base located in Vacaville, California, for $1.2 billion in cash from F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd.

The Vacaville facility, with a bioreactor capacity of 330,000 liters, is one of the largest biologics production bases in the world. Lonza will provide jobs for approximately 750 Genentech employees. Lonza plans to invest 500 million Swiss francs (approximately 560 million U.S. dollars) to upgrade the site and enhance its capabilities in next-generation mammalian biologics therapies.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 and is expected to drive Lonza's sales growth, thereby updating the mid-term guidance for 2024-2028, with a compound annual growth rate (CER) of sales growth at 12-15%.
