In 2016, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals signed a six-year agreement with Intellia Therapeutics to jointly develop, license, and commercialize novel gene therapies based on gene editing, through which Intellia earned approximately $125 million in revenue.In June 2020, Regeneron and Intellia Therapeutics announced the expansion of their collaboration to continue the joint development of gene therapies for hemophilia A and B using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology. Intellia Therapeutics received a $70 million upfront payment and a $30 million equity investment.In June 2021, the in vivo CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing therapy NTLA-2001, co-developed by Intellia Therapeutics and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., achieved positive interim data in Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR).Now,Intellia Exits Hemophilia B Program, Hands Over CRISPR/Cas9 Gene Editing Work Based on Coagulation Factor IX to Partner Regeneron。Although Intellia has exited, it still has to bear 35% of the cost and will not receive related profits. However, it is expected to obtain milestone payments of up to $320 million as well as double-digit royalties.

An Intellia spokesperson stated that the decision to opt out only pertains to the Hemophilia B program, while work on the Hemophilia A program is continuing; andOpting out of the hemophilia B program does not affect other programs of the company., including the Phase 3 program for NTLA-2001 in the treatment of transthyretin amyloidosis led by Intellia. According to the latest reports, the first patient has been dosed in this Phase 3 trial.
