Recently, Matwings Technology announced the completionTens of Millions of Yuan in Pre-A Round Financing, accelerating the commercial implementation of general large-scale models in protein engineering.
This round of financing was led by金沙江联合资本 (GSR United Capital), with participation from 本草资本 (BioCap Equity), 晓池资本 (Xiaochi Capital), and 四川交研资本 (Sichuan Jiaoyan Capital). The funds raised will be mainly used to accelerate the industry application of a general large model for protein engineering, promoting industrial upgrading.
Matwings Technology was founded in 2021, byShanghai Jiao Tong UniversityCreated by an elite team, it is one of the earliest companies in China to layout AI protein large models, and also the largest AI protein design service provider in China currently.
Matwings Technology's Self-Developed AI Protein Design Large Model——AccelProtein™, adopts the advanced Transformer architecture and masked language model. Trained on a complex dataset of 780 million protein sequences from organisms across various environments, the model has mastered the intricate semantic relationship between protein sequences and their functions. It achieves end-to-end prediction from "sequence to function" and possesses true zero-shot prediction capability.
Using "AccelProtein™ Large Model Automatic Design + Minimal Experimental Validation," it is possible to design all types of protein sequences. Moreover, several proteins designed with its involvement have reached or even surpassed world-leading levels in key metrics such as stability, activity, and affinity. The time required for protein design has also been significantly reduced from the traditional 2-5 years to just 2-6 months.

In just over two years, Matwings Technology has successfully delivered more than a dozen protein design projects, earning recognition from several leading clients in the industry and establishing close, long-term strategic partnerships with numerous upstream and downstream enterprises.
