Danaher Establishes Western Innovation Center in Chongqing, Unveils Life Science Institute and Cytiva Tech Hub

Danaher Western Innovation Center Project is located in Lijia Street, southwestern Yubei District, adjacent to the National Regional Medical Center of Chongqing Children's Hospital. The center will integrate multiple functions such as biopharmaceutical talent training, innovation incubation, product development, customer service, technical support, application development, functional verification, and collaborative office work. As another significant milestone in Danaher's "Create and Elevate China" local strategy, the investment and construction of this center will serve the pharmaceutical research and innovation transformation in the Chengdu-Chongqing region.

The signing of the Danaher Western Innovation Center is a significant milestone for the high-quality development of the life health industry in Liangjiang New Area. We look forward to using this event as an opportunity to continuously expand the communication network between research institutes and enterprises, strengthen the innovation ecosystem of the life health industry, accelerate the formation of new productivity, integrate advantages, pool resources, and jointly promote industrial co-prosperity, innovative win-win, and integrated coexistence.

We are very pleased that Danaher has settled in Chongqing, a strategic hub for development in western China, achieving mutual advancement. Looking forward, we anticipate that with the construction of Danaher's Western Innovation Center, we will collaborate with our ecosystem partners to highly integrate optimal policy support, strong research teams, effective clinical studies, efficient industrial transformation, timely capital backing, and sustainable business models. Together, we aim to build a high-level integrated innovation platform for precision medicine and biopharmaceuticals.

As part of this project, Danaher will also establish a Life Sciences Research Institute here. This is the third research institute set up in China by Danaher's life sciences platform after Shanghai and Guangzhou, serving the development of cutting-edge application methods for biopharmaceuticals and precision medicine. Meanwhile, Cytiva (思拓凡), a pioneer in the global life sciences field under Danaher, will establish the Cytiva West China Science and Innovation Center to carry out biopharmaceutical process technology development, talent training, project incubation and transformation, and health economics evaluation.

The Two Major Centers Will Build Open Innovation Platforms Covering Cutting-edge Fields Such as Spatial Omics, Genomics, Multi-omics Innovative Research, Clinical Efficacy Evaluation, Organoids, Cell Therapy, Synthetic Biology, and Nucleic Acid Drug Processes, Promoting Industry Exchange and Accelerating the Innovation and High-quality Development of China’s Biomedical R&D and Production.

In addition to technical empowerment, Danaher will use its renowned Danaher Business System (DBS) as an entry point to exploratively launch skills training and management programs for local partners in Chongqing, enhancing the management capabilities of professionals in the biopharmaceutical industry.

The biopharmaceutical industry is one of the six innovative, billion-dollar distinctive and advantageous industrial clusters in Chongqing's "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system. Today, Chongqing has achieved multiple landmark results in building a biopharmaceutical industrial cluster, promoting high-quality development of pharmaceutical enterprises, and enhancing the technical level of pharmaceutical products.

Danaher Western Innovation Center is the first Fortune 500 multinational pharmaceutical enterprise project introduced by Chongqing Liangjiang New Area. Currently, Liangjiang New Area is developing the life health industry as a pillar industry, following the development concept of “One City, Two Parks, Two Centers,” and accelerating the establishment of three landmark industrial clusters—medical devices, biological products, and chemical preparations—as well as three emerging industries: new traditional Chinese medicine, new services, and new healthcare.

For many years, Danaher has continuously deepened its layout in China. In 2022, it fully launched the "Create and Elevate China" localization strategy, accelerating local innovation, local manufacturing, and local commercialization. In 2024, Danaher's localized innovation strategy, the "Dual Innovation Acceleration Engines," was officially launched, deeply driving the innovation capacity of China’s medical ecosystem, focusing on innovation origination in medical institutions and transformation empowerment in university parks.

The establishment of Danaher's Western Innovation Center once again demonstrates Danaher's continued confidence in the Chinese market. By deepening government-enterprise cooperation, Danaher is intensifying its efforts in local industrial chain and ecosystem construction. Danaher will continue to promote deep integration across the entire industry chain, leveraging the "Dual Innovation Acceleration Engine" strategy to build momentum, jointly promoting the long-term development of regional industrial chains and the high-quality growth of China’s healthcare industry.
