On April 3, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) issued the "Announcement on Further Strengthening the Supervision and Management of Entrusted Production by Medical Device Registrants" to further implement the quality management responsibilities of medical device registrants throughout the product lifecycle and refine regulatory requirements for entrusted production of medical devices.The announcement covers three aspects with a total of 20 items, including strictly implementing the main responsibility of medical device registrants, strengthening the registration management of contract manufacturing of medical devices, and continuously enhancing the supervision and management of contract manufacturing. Recently, the Health Commission of Jiangsu Province, in collaboration with the Provincial Market Supervision Administration, the Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau, and the Provincial Drug Administration, formed four research groups to conduct special inspections on the use and management of dentures across 13 prefecture-level cities. The inspection covers municipal health administrative departments, specialized stomatological hospitals, secondary-level and above public general hospitals with stomatological departments, traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, grassroots hospitals, etc., focusing on irregularities such as overcharging during the dental implant process. Hu Jian, Director of the Prosthodontics Department at the Stomatological Hospital of Jiangsu Province, introduced that due to most titanium alloy materials required for dental implants being imported, along with excessive intermediate distribution links, the cost of implanting a single denture is typically over 10,000 yuan, causing strong dissatisfaction among patients regarding the high prices. According to reports, previously, 7,168 medical institutions with stomatological departments across the province completed self-inspection and correction work. Among them, 172 public medical institutions identified 251 issues and risk points, while 145 private medical institutions found 243 issues and risk points.
