WANTAI BioPharm previously focused on the production of bivalent HPV vaccines. According to data disclosed by WANTAI BioPharm, the company's total revenue in 2023 was 5.511 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 50.73%, with bivalent HPV vaccine income falling short of expectations. The nonavalent HPV vaccine is currently the more popular type in the market.If WANTAI BioPharm's product is successfully approved for marketing, it will become the first domestically produced one in China, directly competing with MSD.

MSD's nine-valent HPV vaccine currently covers the majority of users. Starting from 2022, MSD announced that the age range for vaccination with the nine-valent HPV vaccine would be expanded, and the application for the male indication of this vaccine has been accepted by the China National Medical Products Administration. The market is paying close attention to how WANTAI BioPharm’s product will compete after its launch.
