iCAD announced that Elekta will acquire its Xoft brachytherapy business line for $5.5 million (approximately 40 million RMB).。Elekta immediately takes over the business line and will pay the final installment before November 6, 2023, with the full transaction expected to be completed in the second quarter of Elekta's 2023/24 fiscal year.
Xoft possesses a unique patented technology that uses a miniature low-energy X-ray source instead of radioactive isotopes for irradiation, requiring only simple shielding to be applied in various clinical environments.Currently, this technology is mainly used for the intraoperative treatment of breast cancer, non-melanoma skin cancer, and gynecological cancers, with other clinical indications under development.
