The study did not meet its primary endpoint, as ADX71149 in combination with standard treatment showed no statistical significance in the time required for patients to reach baseline seizure frequency.
These data are from 110 evaluable patients, each of whom received 50mg or 100mg ADX71149 twice daily in addition to standard doses of levetiracetam or brivaracetam and up to three other antiepileptic drugs.Treatment. ADX71149 adjunctive medication is safe and well-tolerated.Glutamate is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and plays a crucial role in the initiation and spread of seizures. ADX71149 is a selective positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of metabotropic glutamate receptor 2 (mGlu2), and under conditions of agonist-induced activation, positive allosteric modulation of mGlu2 receptors may help normalize excessive glutamate release during seizures.Johnson & Johnson entered into a collaboration with Addex in December 2004. Under the research collaboration and license agreement, Addex granted Johnson & Johnson an exclusive global license to develop and commercialize mGlu2 PAM compounds. Addex is eligible to receive up to €109 million in success-based development and regulatory milestone payments.
