Drug Farm, a biotech company dedicated to the discovery of targets and the development of first-in-class original drugs by combining forward genetics with artificial intelligence technology, recently announced that the data on chronic hepatitis B patients from the Phase 1b trial (ACTRN12621000592842) of its self-developed DF-006 immunomodulator will be presented as a late-breaking research poster at the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) conference in June 2024.

DF-006 is a first-in-class oral ALPK1 agonist immunomodulator that effectively stimulates local innate immunity in the liver.①DF-006 has successfully completed single and multiple ascending dose (MAD) evaluations in healthy volunteers, as well as multiple ascending dose evaluations in HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with virological suppression.
"There is currently no effective cure for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). DF-006 has a new mechanism of action that can stimulate the body's own immune system to help clear the infection. As an oral medication administered once a week, DF-006 has the potential to become the preferred immunomodulator in combination therapy for HBV," commented Dr. Ed Gane, Professor of Medicine at the University of Auckland, Chief Hepatologist at Auckland Hospital, transplant physician, and Deputy Director of the New Zealand Liver Transplant Unit.
"DF-006 has demonstrated effective antiviral responses in preclinical studies, including the inhibition of covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) and T-cell recruitment. The data from this Phase 1b study provides clinical support for a drug with a novel mechanism of action that could potentially help cure patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB)," said Dr. Jeysen Yogaratnam, Chief Medical Officer of Drug Farm.
