On August 29, Beijing Jingdong Health Co., Ltd. and Lilly (China) Research & Development Co., Ltd. officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Both parties will integrate high-quality medical resources and digital service capabilities to jointly develop innovative, one-stop chronic disease management solutions for patients with overweight/obesity, diabetes, and alopecia areata, continuously improving patient access to treatment and health management levels.
Lilly is a globally leading pharmaceutical company with nearly 150 years of history, consistently dedicated to advancing human health through scientific innovation. The company has achieved significant progress in areas such as diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer's disease, immunological disorders, and oncology, benefiting tens of millions of patients worldwide.
Currently, 25 Lilly products are sold through Beijing Jingdong Health Co., Ltd.'s self-operated platform. Among them, the innovative medication Mounjaro® (tirzepatide injection) has attracted widespread attention from patients with diabetes and those seeking weight loss since its launch on the JD platform at the end of last December. In early August this year, the multi-dose prefilled pen version of Mounjaro® became available on JD Health, offering patients a more flexible and convenient treatment option and further enhancing the overall therapeutic experience.
It is understood that the two parties will fully leverage their complementary strengths in branding, products, channels, technology, and services. Focusing on chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and alopecia areata, they will jointly build an integrated management model combining "medication accessibility, health education, and digital services," exploring patient-centered, full-cycle disease management pathways to enhance users' access to and trust in high-quality medicines and healthcare services.
In terms of supply chain, Lilly will rely on the supply chain system of JD Health to achieve stable direct supply of therapeutic products, supported by professional cold-chain logistics, ensuring efficient and safe nationwide distribution of medicines and guaranteeing patients' continuous and reliable access to medications.
In terms of digital services and patient education, both parties will jointly establish the Lilly Disease Education Zone to systematically introduce health knowledge regarding disease mechanisms, prevention, and treatment measures, helping patients improve their understanding of diseases and self-management capabilities. JD Internet Hospital will also provide users with real-time online consultation and regular follow-up services, supporting long-term standardized disease management.
In addition, both parties will develop specialized tools and educational resources for doctors and patients to help healthcare professionals continuously improve their diagnostic, treatment, and management capabilities.
Eli Lilly and Company's Vice President and General Manager of China, Derhlan, stated: "With the continuous improvement of the national healthcare system, the enhancement of public health literacy, and the accelerated launch of innovative medicines, Lilly China has successfully transformed its innovation model from 'disease-centered' to 'patient-centered'. Through this strong collaboration with JD Health, we will jointly optimize patient care pathways, expand healthcare service channels, improve medication accessibility, and ultimately enhance the efficiency of chronic disease treatment and management, thereby improving patients' quality of life."
JD Group SEC member and CEO of JD Health, Jin Enlin, said: "Lilly is an important partner of JD Health. We hope to fully leverage JD Health's leading advantages in pharmaceutical supply chain capabilities and healthcare service resources, working together with Lilly to make high-quality innovative medicines and professional, reliable medical services accessible to a broader population."
