On May 10, Eisai announced its anti-epileptic drugPerampanelApproved for a new indication in China, forAdjunctive Therapy for Epilepsy and Primary Generalized Tonic-Clonic Seizures in Adults and Children 12 Years of Age and Older。Perampanel is a highly selective, non-competitive AMPA receptor antagonist that reduces neuronal hyperexcitability associated with epileptic seizures.

Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder that severely impacts patients' normal lives. Epileptic seizures are related to the brain – the brain is full of electrical signals, but when there is a sudden burst of intense electrical activity in the brain, it affects the brain's normal functions and triggers epileptic seizures.

The oral suspension has the same indications as the oral tablet and is also more suitable for patients with swallowing difficulties and pediatric patients.
