Meta Quest System May Introduce Wrist Button FunctionRecently, Meta has launched the v66 beta system of Meta Quest for Public Test Channel (PTC) users. X platform user @Luna discovered during testing that the new system introduces a virtual button feature (experimental function). When users interact with gestures, a settings button and a Meta button will newly appear on the wrists of both hands.
Earlier, the gesture logic for the Quest device was: a short pinch of the index finger and thumb to open the menu, and a long pinch of the index finger and thumb to recalibrate the field of view. When Quest introduced virtual buttons, it actually helped to improve the issue of accidental touches that might have been caused by previous gestures.

It is worth mentioning that even if new functions appear in the PTC system version, it does not mean that the function will definitely be included in the official version of the system. Regarding this point, we can pay attention to the push of the new Meta Quest system next month.

Mojo Vision Showcases Latest Micro-LED Technology AchievementsRecently, Mojo Vision, a Micro-LED company, announced its latest technological breakthrough at the SID Display Week held in San Jose, California. The company showcased a monolithic red, green, and blue (RGB) panel with a pixel pitch of 4μm and a density of 6350 pixels per inch (ppi). Additionally, it featured a technical improvement that significantly boosts brightness and reduces power consumption by up to five times compared to traditional LED structures.

Mojo Vision Develops Monolithic RGB Panel with 4μm Pixels and 1.3μm Sub-pixels Using Its Proprietary Quantum Dot (QD) and Integration Process. This compact display is designed for a slim smart glasses form factor, addressing pain points of current consumer market products such as HD viewing, size, weight, and battery life. This single-panel Micro-LED display boasts 6350 ppi.Mojo Vision also demonstrates significant performance enhancement by using a micro-lens array (MLA). Typically, LEDs naturally disperse light in multiple directions, leading to light waste. Less than 7% of the LED output enters the AR optics and reaches the human eye for visual processing. By using an MLA and lenses much larger than micro-LEDs, Mojo Vision's display can deliver up to five times more light to the human eye, greatly improving brightness and energy efficiency.

Mojo will demonstrate this enhancement by placing a 3μm pitch MLA on top of a blue LED and a red QD array with 1.3μm sub-pixels, showing a side-by-side comparison of brightness with and without the MLA.
Mojo Vision CEO Nikhil Balram stated, "As the XR industry continues to pursue smaller and less obtrusive form factors, we need to develop smart glasses that look and feel like the glasses most people wear today. However, features and functionalities such as brightness, resolution, field of view, and AI integration are also crucial. Today's smart glasses are starting to incorporate AI in the form of audio input and output, but for truly AI-powered glasses, visual interaction with AI will be a significant enhancement to the user experience."
"More than half of the cerebral cortex is dedicated to visual processing. The possibility of integrating rich artificial intelligence with visual feedback into future smart glasses will create fascinating new products. The 4μm pixel size in Mojo's monolithic RGB panel is crucial for achieving lightweight, compact, energy-efficient, and bright displays, which is essential for making glasses fully 'smart' without sacrificing visual appeal and comfort."
