BioNTech and MediLink Expand Collaboration on Antibody-Drug Conjugates
MediLink, formerly known as "Yilian Bio," recently announced a new strategic partnership with BioNTech. Based on this collaboration,BioNTech will obtain the exclusive option and corresponding global exclusive license to develop ADC products targeting specified cutting-edge innovative targets using MediLink's TMALIN antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology platform.
According to the terms of the new agreement, MediLink will receive an upfront payment of $25 million and is eligible to receive up to $1.8 billion in development, regulatory, and commercialization milestone payments. As part of the agreement, MediLink will have the right of first refusal for future collaboration if BioNTech seeks to out-license or transfer these ADC products in any one or more regional markets within Greater China. In October 2023, MediLink and BioNTech reached a strategic cooperation and global licensing agreement for YL202/BNT326, an ADC project targeting HER3. Both parties decided to further expand the scope of cooperation and reached this platform cooperation licensing agreement.Johnson & Johnson Acquires Potential "First-in-Class" Bispecific Antibody Therapy for Atopic DermatitisJohnson & Johnson announced today that it has reached a definitive agreement with Numab Therapeutics to acquire global development rights for the potential "first-in-class" bispecific antibody NM26 for approximately $1.25 billion.
NM26 is ready to enter Phase 2 clinical research. It targets two clinically validated signaling pathways in atopic dermatitis: the IL-4Rα subunit and IL-31. Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common inflammatory skin diseases, characterized by high heterogeneity, with different patient subgroups having different pathogenic mechanisms.NM26 targets IL-4Rα to triggerType 2 Helper T Cells (Th2)Mediated skin inflammation. It simultaneously targets IL-31 and IL-31-mediated skin itching, leading to subsequent scratching that exacerbates the condition. In addition to potentially changing the standard treatment for atopic dermatitis, NM26 may also be effective in other inflammatory skin conditions involving Th2 and pruritus.Exploring New Targets for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer and Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, Gilead Sciences Announces CollaborationCartography Biosciences Announces Strategic Collaboration with Gilead Sciences to Discover and Develop Therapies for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) Adenocarcinoma
In this multi-year collaboration, Cartography's proprietary computational and gene platforms will be used to discover and validate innovative tumor-selective target antigens.Cartography's ATLAS and SUMMIT platforms integrate single-cell data from comprehensive health controls and tumor atlases, applying target identification algorithms to identify individual antigens or antigen pairs specific to target cells.Gilead can choose multiple targets identified through this collaboration and assume all subsequent research, development, and commercialization work for these targets. Under the terms of the agreement, Cartography will receive a $20 million upfront payment as well as additional near-term preclinical milestone payments. Cartography is also eligible to receive development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments.
