The first surgery was performed at North Star Vascular and Interventional in Minneapolis. Dr. Jafar Golzarian, a radiology professor and founder of North Star Vascular and Interventional, successfully completed two different clinical procedures — knee arterial embolization and prostate arterial embolization.
Dr. Golzarian stated, "The heads-up display and augmented reality capabilities of OmnifyXR, particularly the 3D anatomical views provided by holographic scans, offer an unprecedented new perspective for treatments, which will be revolutionary. I am thrilled to be part of these groundbreaking surgeries and look forward to seeing how this technology can lead to better clinical and operational outcomes for patients and healthcare professionals."

OmnifyXR, jointly designed by GE HealthCare and MediView XR, is aimed to seamlessly integrate into existing interventional suites. It leverages augmented reality technology to support healthcare professionals in enhancing workflow efficiency and ergonomics, improving anatomical visualization and collaborative care.
The head-up display helmet of this system can holographically showcase multiple customizable video streams simultaneously. Medical staff can display up to four video streams at once according to workflow needs, customize the size, angle, and orientation of the videos, and utilize voice commands for hands-free interaction.
3D Assist enhances visualization, enabling healthcare professionals to evaluate complex anatomical structures and interact with holographic 3D anatomical models, thereby supporting surgical planning.

In addition, users can also provide a first-person perspective of holographic experience for remote collaboration, consultation, training, supervision, and support.
GE HealthCare currently offers OmnifyXR services in the United States and plans to expand globally in the future. The technology is currently only compatible with GE HealthCare's interventional X-ray systems, including the Allia IGS and Innova IGS platforms.
Dr. Amin Astani of North Star Vascular and Interventional said, "OmnifyXR will revolutionize the way I handle cases. With GE HealthCare's Allia platform, I can create a highly detailed 3D model in a short amount of time without taking off my sterile gloves, maintaining sterility during the procedure.""Using MediView's OmnifyXR, I can virtually place this 3D model anywhere in the room—allowing me to walk around it and evaluate it from different angles and perspectives, so I can make more informed decisions on how to approach and perform my surgery."
