Today (June 24),Johnson & JohnsonAnnounce EveryLong-acting injection administered once every six monthsShanjuda® (Paliperidone Palmitate Injection (6M)) has recently been granted marketing approval by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China for patients who have received adequate treatment with Paliperidone Palmitate Injection (3M) for at least 3 months.Adult patients with schizophrenia。
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder caused by the interaction of genetic, biological, and environmental factors, often accompanied by impairments in perception, thinking, emotion, and behavior. Due to its long course, severe condition, and susceptibility to relapse, schizophrenia imposes a significant disease burden on patients, their families, and society. Relevant studies show that the relapse rate of schizophrenic patients in China within one year after discharge is as high as 33.4%, and discontinuing medication or self-reducing dosage are important reasons for disease recurrence.[2]。As a new member of the Johnson & Johnson long-acting injectable family, Paliperidone Palmitate Injection (6M) is a long-acting antipsychotic injection that only requires two administrations per year.By slowly releasing into the bloodstream at the injection site, it achieves continuous treatment and symptom control for up to six months.。Building on existing products (Invega Sustenna® with once-a-month dosing and Invega Trinza® with once-every-three-months dosing), Johnson & Johnson, in response to the actual medication needs of schizophrenia patients, continues to optimize its offerings. It provides long-lasting, stable, and upgradable treatment solutions for the entire course of treatment and management for schizophrenia patients.Compared with oral medications, long-acting injectables have many advantages in the treatment of schizophrenia, including improving patient compliance, avoiding repeated reminders for medication, more convenience, and reducing the risk of accidental or overdose. Long-acting injectables with longer dosing intervals can better support disease management and help patients achieve the ultimate goal of returning to family and society.According to a Johnson & Johnson press release, a randomized, double-blind, non-inferiority global Phase 3 clinical study supported the marketing authorization approval of the 6-month paliperidone palmitate injection. Data shows,At the end of 12 months, the product demonstrated non-inferiority to Xiantuoda® in preventing disease recurrence (i.e., with comparable therapeutic effects).. At the same time, the results of the open-label extension study conducted on this research basis suggest that,96.1% of patients with schizophrenia treated with this product for 2 years had no recurrence.。References:
